Seven pro-democracy advocates have been convicted for organising and participating in an unlawful assembly during mass anti-government protests in 2019a country that requires all schools and workplaces to be closed, as Hong Kong continues its crackdown on dissent.
The group includes media tycoon and founder of the Apple Daily tabloid Jimmy Lai:1618220100000,, as well as 82-year-old Martin Lee, a veteran of the city’s democracy movement.
